Our

why

100% of the money raised from this event goes to the non-profit organization Why Me & Sherry's House. They are a grass roots non-profit dedicated to providing love and support services to families with childhood cancer. Created and run in part by parents that lived this experience first-hand, the dedicated staff and volunteers understand what families with a pediatric cancer patient need and are passionate about services provided. Our support begins the moment your child is diagnosed and is available throughout every step of your child’s treatment and beyond. Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, Why Me is the vision of thirteen year old Sherry Shepherd, and the promise by those who loved her to keep her dream alive.

In 2022, we experienced a record breaking heat wave with temperatures near 100 degrees resulting in a 51% attrition rate. Only 17 athletes crossed the finish line to earn the coveted finisher medal.

Collectively we raised $140,000 for Why Me & Sherry’s House.

In our inaugural event we had 15 athletes take on the challenge. The weather this year was perfect and the friendship forged were amazing. Even under ideal conditions we still had a 33% attrition rate.

Collectively we raised $72,000 for Why Me & Sherry’s House.

The 3rd year of the event was by far ae largest group. Maxing out at 50 competitors we raised a record breaking 185k. This brought some surprises as day 2 brought with it a Hurricane warning with torrential downpours and lighting strikes. This year had a 52% attrition rate.

Collectively we raised $185,000 for Why Me & Sherry’s House.
